Key Information for Exporting Fruits

The General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) is the sole authority responsible for the approval and supervision of agricultural and food product imports into China.

Key regulations for exporting fruits to China include:

  • Food Safety Law – To regulate agricultural and food products in compliance with China's agreements.
  • Law of Entry and Exit Animal and Plant Quarantine – To ensure the safety of high-risk agricultural and food products.

Steps for Exporting Fresh Fruits from Thailand to China

  1. Farmers must register as exporters with the Department of Agriculture (DOA).
  2. Farmers must obtain certification for Good Agricultural Practice (GAP) and ensure production meets Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.
  3. Farmers/exporters must apply for a phytosanitary certificate (PC) from the Department of Agriculture to accompany the exported goods.
  4. The products must be shipped with a Phytosanitary Certificate (PC).
  5. If the fruits meet Chinese standards, they can be sold in the Chinese market.
  6. The goods will be inspected at the Chinese import checkpoint. If they fail the inspection, they will be returned.

Conditions for Exporting Fruits from Thailand to China

  • The products must be free from regulated pests such as worms and insects.
  • Longans must have a sulfur dioxide residue not exceeding 50 mg/kg.
  • Each shipment must include a Phytosanitary Certificate (PC).
  • The products must not contain pesticide residues or chemicals exceeding China's maximum limits.
  • The products must undergo pest control and be packaged appropriately under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives of Thailand or bear the agricultural and food quality certification mark (Q Mark).
  • Thirteen types of fruits, including durian, longan, mango, and mangosteen, must come from GAP-certified farms and GMP-certified packing houses.
