Department of Foreign Trade Reports 18.60% Growth in Border and Transit Trade in the First Two Months of 2021

- Imports: 101.549 billion baht (+17.18%)
- Exports: 141.092 billion baht (+19.64%)
- Thailand’s trade surplus with neighboring countries: 39.543 billion baht
Thailand’s Border Trade with Neighboring Countries
Thailand’s border trade with Malaysia, Myanmar, Laos, and Cambodia reached a total of 140.724 billion baht, representing a 4.06% increase compared to the same period in 2020. The breakdown by country is as follows:
- Malaysia: 91.959 billion baht (+13.17%)
- Key exports: Rubber, computers & accessories, automobiles & parts
- Laos: 91.576 billion baht (+51.95%)
- Key exports: Diesel fuel, automobiles, other refined petroleum products
- Cambodia: 30.811 billion baht (-4.8%)
- Key exports: Non-alcoholic beverages, automobiles, motorcycles & parts
- Myanmar: 28.294 billion baht (-7.85%)
- Key exports: Non-alcoholic beverages, diesel fuel, spices & herbs
Transit Trade via Neighboring Countries to China, Singapore, Vietnam, and Others
Thailand’s transit trade with neighboring countries to China, Singapore, Vietnam, and other markets reached a total of 101.917 billion baht, showing a 46.93% increase. The breakdown by country is as follows:
- China: 42.270 billion baht (+66.44%)
- Key exports: Fresh, chilled, frozen, and dried fruits, rubber, rubber products
- Singapore: 16.295 billion baht (+13.61%)
- Key exports: Computers, accessories & parts, electrical circuit boards, circuit breakers
- Vietnam: 10.064 billion baht (+42.44%)
- Key exports: Non-alcoholic beverages, semiconductors, transistors, diodes, livestock products
Additional Report: Expansion of Border Checkpoints for Goods Transportation
As of April 1, 2021, Thailand had reopened 46 border checkpoints for goods transportation, an increase of 6 additional checkpoints since February 2021, including:
Thai-Cambodian Border (Trat Province)
- Ban Mamung Trade Facilitation Point
Thai-Myanmar Border (Mae Hong Son Province)
- Huai Ton Nun Trade Facilitation Point
- Ban Sao Hin Trade Facilitation Point
- Ban Mae Sam Lap Trade Facilitation Point
- Ban Huai Phueng Trade Facilitation Point
- Ban Nam Piang Din Trade Facilitation Point
These six newly opened checkpoints in two border provinces will enhance cross-border trade efficiency and improve logistics connectivity with neighboring countries.
