As the China-Laos High-Speed Railway is set to begin operations by late 2021, the Udon Thani Industrial Estate has accelerated the development of Phase 1, completing over 70% of infrastructure on a 1,300-rai area. The estate is ready to accommodate new factories, with Chinese investors accounting for 70% of the total investment.

This railway will boost cross-border trade and logistics efficiency, allowing Thailand, Laos, and China to be connected within a single day. In response, the Udon Thani Industrial Estate is not only expanding infrastructure but also constructing an inland port and distribution center to support high-speed rail logistics.

Key Logistics Benefits

  • The China-Laos High-Speed Railway will serve as a dedicated cargo transport route for goods produced in the Udon Thani Industrial Estate.
  • Processed agricultural products from Udon Thani and the northeastern region can be transported directly to China within a single day, covering 850 km.
  • In comparison, shipping from Laem Chabang Port to China takes over 15 days.

Impact on the Transport Sector

This project marks a significant transformation in logistics, making both passenger and cargo transportation more efficient, reducing delivery times, and lowering transport costs.
